Arne Slot Maintains He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot conceded that it's expected for concerns to be asked about his position following a further convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

The Reds suffered their ninth defeat in 12 matches, marking the team's worst run after being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult night at their home ground.

“I feel secure, I'm fine, I have got plenty of backing from the top,” Slot remarked.

“It would be nice to reverse this trend and get a victory of course but when you're working as a coach and not doing well then it is normal that people question you.”

He noted, “I am OK with my situation. It is not the first time I’ve been in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Conversations with The Board

When asked to provide details on his conversations with the Liverpool hierarchy, the head coach revealed:

“There's regular dialogue. They are supportive for the squad and for me and we discuss these matters but they don't phone me constantly each day to say they have faith in me.”

He further stated, “During our regular discussions I feel the trust. However I haven’t spoken to them after this game yet so let’s see.”

Familiar Issues and Player Reaction

Slot lamented known weaknesses from his team in their Champions League defeat, specifically missed opportunities and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his view of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the answers. Truthfully, I do not. I'm telling that to everybody,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don’t even have to wait to reflect. I'm beyond being angry inside. I've reached the stage now where I just don’t have the words.”

He continued, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I support them, and I've watched this club since I was young.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Liverpool team experiencing a period like this with performances like these.”

He finished, “But we still have the emblem on our shirts. And as long as it is gone, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to bring this squad return to the top, prove once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the planet.”

“However currently, things are bad and we have to turn it around.”
