'Our Mission Involves Solely Executing' - How Sudan's Brutal Fighting Force Carried out a Massacre

Warning: This Report Presents Graphic Accounts of Executions.

Fighters chuckle as they move on the bed of a utility vehicle, speeding alongside a series of several lifeless forms and heading facing the descending Sudanese evening sky.

"See such work. See this act of mass destruction," a combatant shouts.

The individual smiles as he directs the recording device on himself and his companion combatants, their paramilitary insignia on display: "They will all die in this manner."

The combatants are celebrating a massacre that humanitarian officials suspect resulted in the deaths of over 2,000 civilians in the African metropolis of al-Fashir during October.

An Urban Center Severed from the Globe

After maintaining the city under encirclement for nearly two years, from late summer the RSF advanced to reinforce its control and blockade the remaining inhabitants.

Orbital photography show that forces commenced to erect a immense sand wall - a raised dirt embankment - around the perimeter of the city, sealing off entry points and blocking aid.

As the siege escalated, seventy-eight civilians were slain in an RSF assault on a religious building on 19 September, while the United Nations reported 53 further were murdered in drone and cannon bombardments on a makeshift community in the autumn.

Graphic Video Depicts Weaponless Civilians Gunned Down

In the early morning on late October the paramilitary force defeated the last army strongholds and captured the main headquarters in the urban area, the command center of the Military Unit, as the government forces withdrew.

Perhaps the most disturbing recordings to surface and examined showed the results of a massacre at a educational facility on the west of the city, where scores corpses were visible strewn across the area.

An older individual wearing a robe remained alone amid the victims. The individual rotated to gaze as a fighter carrying with a weapon moved descending the staircase towards the individual. Raising his firearm, the gunman fired a solitary bullet at the victim, who collapsed to the ground lifeless.

"Why is this one yet living," another combatant exclaimed. "Shoot him."

Space-based imagery taken on late October appeared to verify that killings were furthermore conducted on the thoroughfares of the city, as reported by a report published by the university analysis team.

One witness who spoke said he had observed "numerous of our relatives getting massacred - the victims were gathered in one place and all killed."

Paramilitary Officers Attempt to Carry Out Damage Control

During the period that came after the massacre, paramilitary leader acknowledged that his troops had perpetrated "violations" and announced the incidents would be looked into.

Part of the apprehended was after a investigation detailing his executions. Carefully choreographed and modified recording posted on the RSF's authorized Telegram platform depict the commander being escorted into a cell at a prison on the edges of the city.

Meanwhile, the militia and connected social media profiles commenced seeking to alter the narrative.

Updates showing its militiamen distributing assistance to civilians were shared by some individuals, while the militia's public relations unit shared several videos allegedly to show the humane treatment of government prisoners of war.

Regardless of the digital campaign being employed by the RSF, their conduct in el-Fasher have generated international anger.
