The gravest potential impacts of the climate emergency for the UK have been outlined by scientists, including a blistering 4C increase in mean temperatures to a two-metre increase in sea level. An alternative projection envisions a drop of 6C in temperatures following the collapse of critical Atlantic Ocean currents, which would massively disrupt farming and energy needs.
